Our Story

Where we began—and where God is leading us

We all ask important questions as we consider how to provide an excellent education for our children…

How I can provide an academically rich educational environment for my children—where they will learn how to think, not just what to think, discuss things that last such as truth, beauty, and goodness, and also grow in their love for learning?

Is there a school that would come alongside of us to help our children grow as disciples who know and love Christ above all else and develop a faith that is thoughtful, personal, and winsome?

Can we find a school where parents are both supported and involved in a campus community that upholds the role of the family?

Gloria Deo’s story began with questions like these. A handful of families wondered how they could provide an academically rich, spiritually-focused, family-minded education to prepare students to live out their God-given calling with purpose and excellence. These common desires motivated our founders to prayerfully consider how to make this dream a reality.

In the fall of 2012, Gloria Deo Academy launched with fifty-seven students in grades 2-9. The following year, the school expanded to become a K-10 school. Enrollment doubled, so we added eight classrooms to accommodate our growth. In 2014, we made the decision to keep enrollment steady and added an 11th grade class along with two more classrooms, including a science lab. We began a few athletic programs as well. We grew again in 2015 to 175 students, and much to our amazement, we were able to purchase acreage adjacent to our current campus so we prepare for the future. In January 2020, we broke ground on Phase 1 of a gym. Additional phases will include classrooms, offices, and athletic fields. Recently, we have seen our athletic programs flourish and bring joy and have especially enjoyed the launch of our House System to provide mentoring and leadership and service opportunities for our upper school students. Gloria Deo has grown into a robust community of learning and discipleship where students are trained to become lifelong worshippers, lifelong learners, and lifelong servants. It is a privilege to be part of a school that invests in students for a lifetime.

  • 2011 – Academy founded with a vision for biblical, classical education.

Welcome

Let’s walk this road together

You being here says a lot. It says you must really care about your children’s education. It says you must be looking for something that fits your family well. It says you must be considering this decision carefully.

We are looking for families who resonate with our mission and vision–for families who believe education is about more than classrooms, more than college, more than a career. A Gloria Deo education prepares a student to have a future by learning to walk in wisdom. Our faculty members are dedicated professionals who are committed to this mission. Our administration is committed to admitting families who are ready to become part of our campus community where we provide a unique model of education–Christian in worldview, classical in purpose, and collaborative in approach.

As you learn more about Gloria Deo Academy, we look forward to meeting you and to sharing our vision with you at our next Preview Day. We would be honored to meet you soon, show you around our campus, learn about your family, and answer your questions.

Grace and Truth,

Joe Fesler

What We Believe

Centered on historic Christian orthodoxy

We affirm the essentials of the Christian faith and keep Christ at the center of all we do—teaching every subject under His lordship and inviting students to live faithfully in community.

“More than any school I have worked in, GDA’s mission of discipling students is why I want to work here—being able to have authentic discussions apart from strictly academic progress through curricula so that my classroom is not just another checkmark of completion but a stepping stone to maturity is one of the greater values of teaching.”

Jo Tucker, Government & Economics Rhetoric

“GDA embodies what it means to be a community that encourages a collaborative effort between the family and the school. I am so thankful that God called me to teach at GDA. I love being a part of the GDA family! I have seen students grow spiritually and academically at GDA.”

Angela Taylor, Logic School Science Teacher

“The mission of GDA puts emphasis on the heart, mind and strength of students as a whole. Each student was created uniquely by God, and the ability to foster their individual love for learning instead of just teaching for a test, has made my experience feel like a calling rather than just a profession. .”

Colleen Hartman, Lower Grammar School

Community & Culture

We seek biblical community among students, parents, and teachers—pursuing excellence in scholarship, character, and service.

We pursue joyful scholarship, service, and worship together—on campus and at home—so students learn in relationship and grow in character that lasts.
